Every story is different, but many of the questions are the same. From the legal requirements to how the process works, you'll find the answers to the most common questions below.

Wedding FAQs

  • As early as you can. Spring and autumn weekends on the Central Coast book out 12 to 18 months ahead. If your date is closer, it's always worth reaching out. I'll let you know whether I'm available.

  • We start with a discovery call to meet each other and make sure we're the right fit. Once you've confirmed your booking with a deposit, we move into the couple interview, which is where I learn your story. From there I write your ceremony, share it with you for feedback, and we refine it together. On the day, I take care of everything.

  • Every package includes the discovery call, the couple interview, a ceremony written from scratch, all legal paperwork including the Notice of Intended Marriage and lodgement with the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, ceremony delivery, and a PA system if you need one. There are no add-ons and no hidden costs.

  • There are three: The Shoreline for elopements of up to 10 guests, The Gathering for micro weddings of up to 30 guests, and The Ceremony for full weddings of any size. All three include the same personalised approach, the difference is just the scale of your day.

  • Absolutely. Writing your own vows is one of the most meaningful things you can do in a ceremony, and I'll support you through it if you want help. I can guide you on length, tone, and structure so they land exactly the way you mean them to.

  • Most ceremonies run between 20 and 35 minutes. That's long enough for everything to feel considered, short enough to hold the room. We'll settle on the right length for you during the writing process.

  • Yes, all of it. I handle the Notice of Intended Marriage, the ceremony documents, and lodgement with the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages. You won't need to think about the admin side.

  • Yes. I'm happy to travel to Sydney, the Hunter Valley, and surrounding regions. Travel fees may apply depending on your location. Get in touch and I'll let you know what's involved.

  • Yes. I have a PA system available for outdoor or larger ceremonies. I'll advise whether you need it based on your venue and guest numbers.

  • Pricing is available on enquiry. Get in touch and I'll talk you through everything. There are no surprises.

Naming Ceremonies FAQs

  • A naming ceremony is a non-religious celebration that formally welcomes a child into your family and the wider community. It's a chance to mark the moment, involve the people who matter, and create a memory that lasts. They work beautifully as an alternative to a christening, or simply as a standalone celebration.

  • Not at all. It's entirely your choice. Some families want a formal occasion with everyone gathered, others prefer something small and quiet. I can work with whatever feels right for you.

  • Yes. The ceremony can include guide parents, godparents, or any other significant people you'd like to formally acknowledge. We'll work out exactly how to include them during the writing process.

  • Any age. Naming ceremonies are most common for babies and toddlers, but there's no upper limit. I've written them for older children too.

Vow Renewals FAQs

  • A vow renewal is a ceremony where you and your partner choose each other again, usually to mark a milestone anniversary or a significant chapter in your lives. It can be as intimate or as celebratory as you like.

  • No. A vow renewal has no legal standing, which means there's no paperwork and no formal requirements. It's purely a celebration.

  • You can use them, build on them, or start fresh. Some couples love revisiting their original vows and adding to them. Others want to write something entirely new that reflects who they are now. We'll work out what feels right for you.

Funeral FAQs

  • A funeral celebrant works with the family to understand the person being remembered, and writes and delivers a ceremony that reflects their life honestly and warmly. I handle the structure and the words so the family can focus on being present.

  • Email hello@saltandvow.com and mark your message as urgent. I check my emails regularly and will come back to you as soon as possible. I work alongside funeral directors across the Central Coast and am experienced in moving quickly when families need it.

  • Yes. I'm available for graveside services, chapel ceremonies, and non-traditional settings. Wherever feels right for the person being remembered is where I'll be.

General FAQs

  • Yes. I'm a registered civil celebrant with the Attorney-General's Department, Commonwealth of Australia, and hold a Certificate IV in Celebrancy.

  • Yes. I hold public liability insurance covering all ceremony types.

  • A civil ceremony is conducted by a registered civil celebrant and has no religious content. A religious ceremony is conducted by an authorised minister or religious celebrant and includes religious rites, prayers, or scripture. Both are legally binding. Civil ceremonies can be held anywhere and are completely personalised to you.
